Library Facilities Planning Department

Our goal is to provide the best possible work environment for the Library’s staff and patrons. We recognize that part of achieving that goal will be maintaining and personalizing work areas. Because this creates work orders of different priorities, we have divided these requests into 3 categories; emergency, routine and special.

The Library Facilities Planning Department (LFPD) is responsible for all facility planning, construction, maintenance, security, signage, accountable property, office supply distribution, and a system-wide mail and courier service for the Smathers Libraries. This includes the following facilities: Library West, Smathers Library, Marston Science Library, Architecture and Fine Arts Library, Education Library and Health Science Library. Our facilities include over 900,000 square feet of building space.

The LFPD is staffed by six full time positions. Because of our limited staff, most work requests made to the LFPD will be handled by UF Facilities Services. The LFPD handles only the minor maintenance requests.
